Some of my nearest and dearest are marrying their loves this year, so my brain has been steered toward all things bridal in recent weeks. While this post has been directly inspired by the many white, ivory, and cream outfits they’ll plan to wear with their nuptials on the horizon, I’ve curated pieces with a broad audience in mind - there’s something in here for everyone.
If you’re a regular reader of my content, you know I’m not a big fan of one-time event shopping and instead prefer to discover pieces that can be worn time and again. Therefore, the styles included here are meant to extend for years beyond bridal occasions such that they can be worn on future trips, for dressy moments, in professional settings, and even for everyday errands. My objective was to also select clothing that transcends current trends, so the lines skew clean and minimalist. This way they can be accessorized in a number of ways to ensure a look is far from boring.
Oh, and before we dive in, let me share with you my #1 essential for keeping your whites truly white 100% of the time - enter OxiClean White Revive. I have my mother-in-law to thank for this and, quite intentionally, it doesn’t contain bleach, but works just as effectively. With a husband who is constantly spilling on his white tees (who can relate!?), there’s always a shirt soaking in this solution.
Ok, onto the content…
Let’s start with everyday basics that are easy to dress up or dress down and you’ll never regret having them in your wardrobe.
The Teller Shop Jaime White Tee is my all-time favorite fit, so much so that I own it in all the core colors.
For button downs, I love Xirena’s Beau Shirt and Channing Short Sleeve Shirt. Both are lightweight, so they can be a bit see through. This makes them more ideal for vacations and casual settings.
For a button down that’s slightly thicker, I love Apiece Apart’s Oversized Option.
And, as shared in my beach essentials post last week, I never travel without my linen Vitamin A Playa Button Down when a bathing suit is involved.
For some linen tops, Posse has the best options, including the Mabel Top and Emma Vest. They’re incredibly versatile as they’re easy to style with all types of skirts, pants, and shorts. Posse also rolled out and restocked a dress version of the Emma Vest.
For fun pieces with eyelet detail, I’m always on the lookout for what Sea New York is delivering, like this Elysse Top.
And if you’re looking for an easy, durable and no pill sweater (because it’s 100% cotton), La Ligne’s Cotton Solid Marina Sweater has got you covered (literally and figuratively). It’s a nice spring or summer layer.
Alternatively, you could layer with a blazer, such as Apiece Apart’s Elsa Double Breasted Pick (I also love the flax and actually prefer that color and button combo) or A.L.C.’s Peyton Boucle Jacket which gives the right mix of laid-back polish. If you’re going for an investment piece Nili Lotan’s Romy Cropped Jacket is a forever item.
For tops that are a bit dressier, I love Matteau’s Creamy Satin Scarf Blouse, Ulla Johnson’s Gauzy Bardot Blouse, and I’ve definitely fallen head over heels for Proenza Schouler’s Bobbi Strapless Top.
I always hesitate to recommend pants / bottoms because those are quite personal in the way that they fit. I also really don’t like when you can see the lining of the pockets through the fabric - definitely one of my pet peeves because I find it distracting on an outfit. I can’t personally speak to these Doen Paige Shorts because I haven’t seen them IRL, but I do think they’re pretty cute and casual based on the image. I also love the tulip hem on these Goop Edlin Tailored Shorts from last season. These A.L.C. beauties could be another alternative for a more elevated option.
Now moving onto dresses, let’s start with some casual options, including the Posse Maisie Dress, the Rachel Comey Naz Dress, and Sir’s Bettina Off Shoulder Dress. On the Sir dress, you could easily make it your own with shorter hemming depending on how you see it fitting into your wardrobe.
And for more elevated dresses, here are some of my favorites to choose from…
A.L.C.’s Elizabeth Strapless Midi Dress and Elise Strapless Mini Dress are minimalist classics that are easy to wear. I have the mini dress in black and love the optionality that accompanies the style. I also like their Charlotte Cotton Midi Dress, but it skews a bit buttery in color.
Proenza Schouler’s Rosa Dress is a truly beautiful piece.
Mara Hoffman’s Maia Dress makes quite the statement if you’re someone who loves a bolder look, but it still presents with timeless, clean lines such that it doesn’t appear overly trendy.
The Rachel Comey Willis Dress has beautiful stitching and, if the cut is too low for your liking, could be supplemented with some subtle lace.
I’ve been dreaming about Ulla Johnson’s Kaia Dress since the moment I saw it in her runway photos. It’s so incredibly stunning and definitely more of a splurge. The back is especially gorgeous.
If you’re looking for some statement accessories, might I recommend Khaite’s Aimee Clutch, and Jil Sander’s Canolo Small Leather Shoulder Bag and Goji Leather Mini Bag.
Cheers to this fun little white party!
