I’m all about packing cubes and color schemes. It makes packing so much easier. My Marin sweater was also my most versatile and worn item on a recent trip.

Great article! On a recent trip I packed all black and white and found it so easy to adjust outfits to the weather etc. packing in colour stories has been huge help.

As someone who hates packing, this was much needed! I definitely need to reconsider always preparing for every eventuality. I don’t think I’ve ever not overpacked!

So glad you enjoyed it! It can certainly be nerve racking not being fully prepared for all the options, but if you know how you'd solve them in advance it provides good peace of mind. And then if you need to buy something, you come home with an extra souvenir

Hi! I’ve been thinking about how to pack for trips moving forward as I’m still trying to master the art of packing, specifically not overpacking and ensuring that I wear everything I do pack and loving all the outfits during my trip! So yes, I loved this post, thank you for your tips! Two questions I still have; Did you manage with just a carry-on size luggage for two weeks?, and how (ahem, *cough*) do you pack for undergarments on an extended trip? Do you pack enough for the entire trip or do you wash and dry in the bathroom? I hope you don’t mind sharing ☺️

Great questions! In total, my husband and I brought 1 medium-sized checked bag and 1 carry-on duffel, in addition to our plane shoulder bags. We brought the checked bag so we would have room for anything we purchased while in country. When we travel, we also workout everyday, so I always have gym clothes packed, which drives the need for a checked bag over a 12-day period. We started and ended our trip in Tokyo, so when we traveled to other cities, we left one bag at our hotel in Tokyo. We've done this before in Italy as well.

I typically pack enough undergarments so that I don't have to do laundry. It's just a personal preference, as I like to spend as much time as possible "on vacation."

To fit everything seamlessly, we always use packing cubes - they make a HUGE difference.
